The last LSI Sandforce SF-2281 powered SSD drive that I tested was ADATA XPG SX900 SSD, and there was nothing out of the ordinary to point out. At the end of the day, it was just another Sandforce drive. But to give some life in the oldest and most used controller, LSI brought in the VB2 rev which is said to have more efficient power consumption feature provided its used with the newer firmware.
Then came Samsung 840 series where even the non-pro version practically overshadowed the Sandforce drives easily. I wanted to see where the newer SanDisk Extreme series stand, but they haven’t sent on yet, but as of now Transcend send their SSD720- another SandForce powered Solid State Drive.
